A514 - Mining & Wear Plates -
Mining Steel
Finished products cut from
Quenched and Tempered Alloy Steel Plate are used especially for
highly abrasive construction and mining requirements. Large tooling, digging, cleaning, and scraping blades are cut from these
high strength, wear resistant plates. Examples include scraper bars for coal mining conveyors and conveyor flights; dirt, ground and rock scraper blades
and bucket scrapers for large mining and farm implements, those
manufactured by Caterpillar, Ford, P&H and various construction equipment vendors; and for the many
wear plates,
screen plates, and wear bars that are required to take the
punishment and abuse that large mining equipment and construction
equipment demands. ASTM A514 grade plate properties include high Tensile Strength
& Yield Strength in the 100ksi range. The
ASTM specifications reference structural quality in thicknesses of
6" and under intended primarily for use in welded bridges and other
structures. ASTM A514 should be welded according to procedures
suitable for this grade of steel.
